In addition to reports from the committee, the symposium will include focused sessions for in-depth discussion. Particular attention will be given to the TMT project, which is positioned as the highest-priority ground-based initiative, taking into account its current circumstances. We will invite the directors of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) and the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), both of which play central roles in advancing optical and infrared astronomy in Japan, to share their perspectives on key challenges for the coming years. The symposium will also include reports on ongoing projects and updates on international developments. As in last year’s meeting, there will be sessions focusing on collaboration with industry, especially companies entering the space sector, and on multi-wavelength collaborations. Furthermore, there will be a dedicated session for early-career researchers who have recently obtained their Ph.D. degrees (March or September 2025), with awards for outstanding presentations.
